As Andrea said the other day: "When you have to wear socks, it doesn't feel like summer anymore."

Speaking of socks, my wife writes to me:

"Today was the first day of school. I woke up to Max [5 yr. old beginning kindergarten] sitting at my door crying: Seems he had tried on every
pair of socks in his drawer and didn't like any of them."

Apparently his parents had to "talk him through" this trauma of inadequate socks.

Today in New Haven temperatures were cool enough to wear socks with my Keen sandals, but I didn't. "Summertime's not come and gone, my oh my..."
