Jazz guitarist Bill Frisell and bassist Thomas Morgan will be playing a duo concert at the Stadtcasino in Basel on 23 April (as part of the Basel Jazz Festival by Offbeat Jazz). The duo's two albums, "Small Town" (2017) and "Epistrophy" (2019) — both recorded live at the Village Vanguard in New York City — give a sense of what to expect: Frisell originals (such as "Small Town"), jazz standards (such as Thelonious Monk's "Epistrophy" or Billy Strayhorn's "Lush Life"), pop songs (such as Fats Domino's "What A Party"), movie music (such as the themes to "Goldfinger" and "You Only Live Twice"), and folks songs (such as "Red River Valley" and "Wildwood Flower").
