Watching today's FA Cup final, I realized I've never done so before. Even though I've had BBC on my television package for years, it just never crossed my mind to watch it. But then I realized that, although I have no memory of it, I probably watched the 1974 FA Cup final near the end of my family's year in Leamington Spa. I looked it up: Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 3-0, with two goals by Kevin Keegan. The clubs had only one substitute on the bench in those days, and if there'd been extra time and a draw, there would have been a replay, not penalty kicks, to decide the title.
