Swifties in Vienna sing “Long Live” to defy terror

After the cancellation of the three Taylor Swift concerts scheduled in Vienna for 8-10 August, Anne Sauer (author of "Look What She Made Us Do", Rowohlt 2024) posted an Instagram video of Swifties singing "Long Live" (from "Speak Now", 2010). Swift wrote the song for her fans and the members of her band: "Long live the walls we crashed through / How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you / I was screaming, 'Long live all the magic we made' / And bring on all the pretenders / One day, we will be remembered." The Swifties in Vienna have made it into an anthem for joy and against terror. (Andrew Shields, #111Words, 8 August 2024)
