Jason Aldean’s “Try That In A Small Town” and the Las Vegas mass shooting

I've never listened to country singer Jason Aldean's music, so I would not have heard about his song "Try That In A Small Town" if it hadn't been criticized for sounding like a call for lynching people who for some reason don't belong in the stereotypical small town. But I had heard Aldean's name before: He was the singer who was performing when the mass shooting at a country music festival in Las Vegas took place on 1 October 2017. But the "small town" song mentions "a gun that granddad gave me," so even surviving such a massacre didn't turn a gun-rights advocate like Aldean into a supporter of gun control.
