Late Friday, I received my absentee ballot from Michigan. When I first voted from abroad in 1992, I registered at my mother's address in Michigan, and I have been a regular absentee voter there ever since. In my first Presidential election in the United States in 1984, I lived in California, where I was going to university; in my second in 1988, I lived in Pennsylvania, where I had just started graduate school. I sometimes wonder if I was supposed to have applied for my 1992 absentee ballot in Pennsylvania. But at the time, I was using my mother's address as my US address, so Michigan made more sense to me.
