Thanksgiving Blog Blues
The main way that this expat in a country that did not have a holiday this week has noticed that people in the U.S. do have a holiday this week is that I keep checking blogs that otherwise get updated on a near-daily basis and that have now fallen silent! I'm looking forward to tomorrow and Monday, when people begin writing again, once they have fully digested their turkey!

Wow, nothing like getting diligent, profound, and consciousness-raising while downhome Americans are downhome, eating endless turkey, various pies, catching-up with the family, reminiscing about childhood, watching mindless television (it's funny though that Mr. Jumbo cited a c&w song which was among the many awful c&w videos we watched for laughs--mostly sassy women and weepy guys, alternating), and braving that ever-present piece of Americana called 'the shopping mall' on "Black Friday."
I'm never an ex-pat myself, but any claims I have to being "in exile" from the Delaware valley fall away on Thanksgiving weekend... "there's a lazy feeling nothing in the world can buy/ when you pass out after turkey and pumpkin pie..."
What's that last couplet from?
We spoke before about parody song lyrics, that was my impromptu attempt to reset "walking in a winter wonderland" for Thanksgiving:
"There's a happy feeling nothing in the world can buy / When they pass around the coffee and the pumpkin pie"
