This is a tough batch.I had such high hopes ...Oof. This is a tough batch.

I had such high hopes for "please advise stop" because the idea was so cool, but I don't think it managed what I wanted & hoped it would.

"Her Body Like a Lantern" is brilliant, but exactly what you'd expect it to be. It is SO hard, however, to argue with the gorgeous:

There's nothing poetic about this.
I have one oar that hangs

from our bedroom window,
and I am rowing our hut
in the same desperate circle.

What a fabulous image! & the last line is a doozy. But it tugs at your heart in exactly the way you'd expect it to. I know, I know: *my* poems are cliche, so I have no room to talk.

Nonetheless, I am going to vote for "Siamo a la Frutta" by Sidney Wade just because it is "different" & doesn't do what you'd expect it to do.

Thanks for listening to my two cents!Katy Loebrichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00107094782074333133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20782819.post-85086563489461369402008-04-21T23:38:00.000+02:002008-04-21T23:38:00.000+02:00i pick Sidney Wade's pom(m)e...i pick Sidney Wade's pom(m)e...hebegeebeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18325215486994292907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20782819.post-2440625011035743102008-04-21T09:50:00.000+02:002008-04-21T09:50:00.000+02:0059, 60, 61 ... which shall I choose?I'll let you k...59, 60, 61 ... which shall I choose?
I'll let you know later in the week,
after re-reading(s).

-- dhshAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20782819.post-13651135102910976612008-04-21T09:28:00.000+02:002008-04-21T09:28:00.000+02:00rybickirybickiswisshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17924594772578153947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20782819.post-36114704492034199172008-04-20T22:42:00.000+02:002008-04-20T22:42:00.000+02:00I liked Sean Hill and Jay Rogoff, but my vote goes...I liked Sean Hill and Jay Rogoff, but my vote goes to John Rybicki.
